    PRESIDENTS PRE-SEASON ADDRESS – March 2018
GOOD MORNING AND WELCOME TO YOU ALL MOST ESPECIALLY TO OUR NEW MEMBERS.
MANY OF YOU WILL HAVE HAD THE PLEASURE OF BOWLING INDOORS OVER THE WINTER AND CAN NOW ONCE AGAIN LOOK FORWARD TO AN ENJOYABLE AND REWARDING OUTDOOR SEASON AT TOWN GARDENS.
THE INDOOR SEASON CLOSED WITH A FUND RAISING ‘ROCK & ROLL’ BINGO EVENING WHICH HAS STARTED OUR FUND RAISING EFFORTS FOR 2018. WE HAVE LYNN AND GRAHAM TOGETHER WITH CLUB MEMBERS LENDING A HAND TO THANK FOR THAT.
WE ARE HOPING THE ‘EASTER EGG HUNT’ WILL BE GOING AHEAD AGAIN THIS YEAR SO WE WILL BE LOOKING FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT FOR THAT TOO.
THANKS ALSO TO THE VOLUNTEERS WHO WILL BE CO-ORDINATING THE DISTRIBUTION OF OUR RECRUITING POSTERS AND FLIERS. IT’S IMPORTANT THAT WE GET THE TIMING RIGHT SO AS TO MAKE AS BIG A IMPACT AS POSSIBLE.
THERE ARE MANY OTHER FUND RAISING OPPORTUNIES WE ORGANISE THROUHOUT THE SEASON AND UPON WHICH WE DEPEND ON YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT. THE ‘FRIDAY EVENING SOCIAL BOWLS’ IS A NEW INITIATIVE TO ENCOURAGE NEW MEMBERS TO JOIN THE CLUB. MORE OF WHICH LATER.
YOU, LIKE MYSELF ARE ONLY TOO AWARE OF THE WORK AND DEDICATION PUT IN BY THE COMMITTEE AND CLUB MEMBERS TO KEEP THE CLUB RUNNING SMOOTHLY AND TO KEEP IT AFLOAT. MY SINCERE THANKS TO YOU ALL.
I WISH YOU ALL A VERY HAPPY AND SUCCESSFUL SUMMER SEASON.

    Community Report 2018

As part of our Lottery requirements this year we had Open Door twice during the summer; they loved being on the green and playing picture bingo. We had Uplands School who again had an enjoyable afternoon and finally we had a group of ladies who call themselves Friends, they visited the green twice and enjoyed playing bowls. One of the ladies was the daughter of two of our past members, Ernie and Louise. She was quite taken aback when we told her that we knew both her parents, we showed her photos of her dad in the clubhouse.
